Install windows xp on laptop without cd-rom or usb boot

I have a old laptop with CD-rom not working and without usb boot support. It was running Windows XP. Now it is crashed. Its has a 2.5 IDE HDD.
I got a IDE to USB converted, formatted the HDD and installed Windows XP (from USB WIN XP boot stick) through my desktop computer. But when i put back the HDD and booted i am getting BSOD.

Is there any way to install WINDOWS XP on my laptop HDD.

It is BSODing because that XP installation is tied to your desktop's hardware as you installed it from there...But don't worry, it should be easy to correct this problem.

You need to run sysprep on the XP installation from your desktop. Doing so will ensure that it gets booted next time on your laptop and loads the new drivers. Here's a video tutorial on sysprep: youtube.com/watch?v=q94iMKZcLhg
