Installation of skpe is blocked in my laptop

Hi,

I my office laptop running on XP, installation of Skype is blocked. Also I'm not able to download the software from internet.

So I downloaded the software from a different machine and tried copying it to my desktop. But during Copy, the software 'skype' got deleted from my pen drive itself.

How is this done.? And how can i get rid of this? Thanks in advance
 
Also I believe that you would not be given admin rights to your laptop and thus would not be able to install without admin access.
 
Probably the sysadmin of your company has configured the laptop in such a way to restrict your activities. Check the background processes running in the machine or probably start the machine in safe mode and then install the s/w and see whether it still deletes after you restart in normal mode.

Also rename the main exe to something different.
 
If the program is in the blocked list of programs in your laptops Antivirus or any other security software, it won't be allowed to run even if name is changed to something else.

so, instead of installing skype, why not install any other IM software that allows you to place skype calls and chats.
