Installing win 7 on secondary hdd.

So my primary ide hdd just went down.I want to install win7 on sec hdd (500gb)which
a> doesnt has any partition.:unsure:
b>has abt 200gb data.

can i install os on this drive?
will it wipe the existing data ?

Installing OS will not wipe any data unless you choose to format the partition...

If it has 200 GB of data then it will have a partition. I would suggest to follow the shrink method, else you would format the single partition on the had and lose the data

Try to back up data, create partition and then install OS. Cumbersome but stable process.

Shrinking is the best option. Use Easeus partition manager.

Thank you guys . But striker's suggestion was very simple and i have the OS back.just cleaning up now and setting up partitions. now need a good primary hdd.
