Hii Everyone,

I got a Windows 7 which is an iso file....

But when I mount the iso file and runs the setup it shows J:\setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application....[J: is drive name]

Can any one tell why is this happening...

Is there something wrong in settings..

I m using -

AMD Phenom X4 Quad Core processor - Model no. - 9650

Asus M3N78-EM motherboard

2 GB DDR2 ram

Thus I hope there is no problem of requirements.....

Use physical DVD rather than image in the first place. You can write iso file on DVD- RW for the time being. How would windows 7 access virtual drive in the mid way of installation.

There are few other things as well you need to decide.

1. Are you going to upgrade your current OS to Windows 7 or dual booting?
2. Have you reserved some other partition for windows 7 in case u dual boot?

You can also boot your pc from burnt bootable DVD-RW having windows 7 setup and install from there.

I guess the Windows 7 version you are installing is a 64-bit version and you seem to have a 32-bit OS installed.

Burn it on to a dvd and boot from the dvd. You can also use a pen drive for installing Windows 7. There quite a few guides out there, search for them.

If you try installing 64bit from within 32 bit environment, setup clearly says :

"This installation disc isn't compatible with your version of Windows. To upgrade, you need the correct installation disc. For more information, check your computer's system information. To install a new copy of windows, restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc, and then select Custom (advanced)."

Problem is somewhere else .. try as recommended, burning the iso & booting from the burned dvd

I was just trying whether it works or not....
Surely I would be getting it installed through DVD, coz there will be mid way virtual drive installation problem

But I had other Operating systems also in the iso file, and if I mount them in the virtual drive and run setup, they surely works and Installation page opens........
But in this case it is giving error......
Thus it doesnt seems to be a iso file problem......

This error mostly occurs if you are trying to run a setup of 64 bit OS from a 32 Bit OS. So to install it you will have to burn a DVD of the ISO and then boot from the DVD to install it.

Try getting a better Version of the Windows 7 image incase urs is corrupted or damaged whilst transferring.

Boot frm DVD.

Its bcoz u are on a 32bit OS and u are running a 64bit executable that u get this error.

Burn it and it will definitely work... :) No need to change discs or anything.

It's a 64 Bit windows setup you got buddy.

To install 64 bit. boot from DVD on system boot and install.

we cannot run 64 bit windows setup from 32 bit. but from 64 bit we can run 32 bit setups.

so better boot from DVD and install.
