Insurgency (INS) is a total conversion mod for Valve Software's Half-Life 2, powered by the Source Engine. INS immerses the player in an intense online combat experience. Set on the modern battlefields, Insurgency simulates infantry combat that encourages the use of teamwork and tactics to close with and destroy the enemy.

So has any one tried this free half life mod? For those having any legit source game, this is available for free through steam.
Here's a detailed review of this game. Note that it was reviewed a long time ago so must have improved by then. I am downloading it now.

i'm a bit lazy to research this myself so can anyone tell me if any of the mods being promoted on steam this week are singleplayer? or are they all multiplayer?
 
This is a purely multiplayer mod and can be directly installed through stem. It will be there in your " Not Installed" list.
 
installed the mod today and it is uber awesome and it is very very realistic reaminds me of cod4 in some aspects but this mod doesnt feel like a mod at all it is like a fully fledged commercial multiplayer game it doesnt even have cross hair or health packs and u only get one grenade to throw :)
 
Yup that's right. I have been playing it since two days now( I still suck at it), and I think it is awesome. There is so much strategy involved (along with the skill of course). And it definitely doesn't seem like a free mod. I think CS players must all try this mod at least once.
 
me too D/ling ..although i d/led it an year ago ..but never played it ;P ..now D/ling officially thru steam :D

i think i saw garav playing that on steam some days back. checked the server and i was pinging 120-150ish to it.

looking for a taste of l4d before it comes eh? ;)
 
tried zombie panic also it is alos a really fine mod pretty scary for a mp game and has a beautiful score to it now iam dling ddrip

Yes there are. In fact there are decent servers for all the newly release mods.They are usually European servers so you can expect a ping of around 140-180.

I think Garav's account has been hijacked. Saw him playing TF2 on a lot of EU servers pinging in excess of 400 and using nicks he normally wouldn't.
