CPU/Mobo Intel 945 MoBo ::: Audio stutter

Recently for the past couple of weeks, the RealTek Sound Manager Plug-in pop-up window "pops-up" and asks me which is the jack I just plugged-in, even though I did not touch any thing, leave alone the jack.

After the pop-up is closed, it re-appears 2-3 times and after that the audio stutter starts, if I play any music or movie. Also, the mouse motion becomes jerky. I need to restart to "stabilize" the system. Then it becomes OK. This has become a regular feature. Happens every time I start to do some work on the PC.

Assuming a driver issue, I downloaded the latest RealTek drivers but there was no improvement.

I went for a total clean install, even then, there was no improvement.

MoBo: Intel 945 GCNL
CPU: E4500
RAM: 2X2GB DDR2 Transcend 667
Hard disks: three.
PSU: FSP Saga II 400W
GPU: Integrated.
Audio: Integrated.

It is used 24x7 as a download rig.

I do not have access to an external sound card to try the possibility of bypassing on-board audio.

Is my MoBo on its way out?

It seems you are having a DPC Latency issue... please download DPC Latency Checker and check for frequent red colored spikes....

I too had the same problem... faulty Nvidia Driver issue... bugger wouldnt install... so removed the card and using onboard graphics now...

Or else check for the transfer mode of your IDE channel... if its in PIO uninstall the driver and restart...

Tried the same, found that the DPC Latency improved after disabling the LAN. In fact the stutter totally stopped. Went ahead in that "high-mood" and promptly upgraded the RealTek LAN driver and fell flat on my face, as the stutter too promptly started back! Anyway, some hope on the horizon now. When I disable the LAN the DPC Latency does improve. SO I will try to see other LAN driver versions. Thanks for the input.
