Intel has announced its new Atom Z3000 series Bay Trail processors for Windows 8 and Android based tablets.
The new Bay Trail processors are based on 22nm Silvermont architecture and come in dual-core and quad-core models, offering up to 2x CPU and 3X GPU performance over previous Clover Trail processors.
The new processors now use Intel HD Graphics, same as found on laptop and desktop chips from Intel. It supports displays up to 2560x1600 resolution with DirectX 11 and OpenGL ES 3.0.
The Bay Trail processors will be found in powerful and energy efficient tablets starting as low as $199 from manufacturers like Asus, Dell, Lenovo and Toshiba in fourth quarter of 2013.
