We have reported earlier that Intel has started P67 B3 production last week and shipment to customers has resumed. Interestingly, Intel has also started production of their Z68 chipset this week along with other Cougar Point SKUs like H61 and Q65. All of them are based on the new B3 stepping therefore the SATA port 2-5 issue is fixed before they hit the market. Judging from the specs, it seems Intel has catered Z68 specially for enthusiasts which allows better processor overclocking, discrete graphics support and SSD caching capability. With these enhancements, Intel has priced the Z68 chipset some US$8 higher than the P67 counterpart. The launch for the Z68 chipset is slated for first week of May.

That's great news!!!
Will the 8$ increase in Chipset price actually get translated into a minimum price difference between the P67 and Z68 boards (P67 boards are expensive as such!!!) ??

i9 sounds really bad... so i think they wont name their next generation processors as i9 3600 or i9 3600k :P

That's great news..

Many of us are waiting for this and happy to see AMD bulldozer at the same time.

^^ AMD users wont require Z68 type chipset to overclock their CPUs :P...The problem wid intel is that it has categorized everything...

H61 for Budget Users

H67 for Mainstream Users

P67 and Z68 For Enthusiasts

I wud have really loved if Intel had created only one chipset like Z68 instead of so many for all the users...

^... And as if that wasn't enough then they had to make it more complicated with all those fancy sockets.... :(

I think I was talking about competition here not AMD proccy fitting into intel mobo.

Anyone waiting for Z68 must be knowing all this :|

When did i talk about AMD proccy fitting into intel mobo? I said that AMD users wont b requiring any Z68 chipset like motherboard to overclock AMD Bulldozer CPUs... Coz AMD Bulldozer CPUs wud b overclockable on any 9xx chipset motherboard...

Anyone waiting for Z68 must be knowing all this

Yeah...

Moreover for overclocking P67 is more than enough

I Agree that p67 is more than enough for overcloking but overclocking is still somewhat limited...

H67 Boards supports CPU IGP but it is not made for overclocking (overclocking is impossible)

P67 Boards Supports Overclocking But Disables The IGP

Z68 Boards supports both plus users wud be able to overclock the CPU more on a Z68 board then P67 board and Z68 comes wid Intel Sync feature also...

So what i mean to say is that Z68 is the most complete chipset... People wud get the fun of both worlds... they wud b able to use IGP also and they wud b able to overclock the CPU also...

^^ seems like I took your comment in wrong way :ashamed:
I think the most welcome feature in Z68 is SSD caching among all the new features.
Let's see how it performs in real world.

^.... But still no USB 3.0.. :S

And to add that any possible overclocking is possible only with "k" proccys (and the mobo u mentioned above) . And they are going to sell the K ones for a good premium here in India :(

Intel killed the meaning of overclocking.

It was making a 99$ processor into a 199$ one, or a 199$ one to a 499$ one..

Well, 1st, Intel doesn't sell "processors" below 117$ now, they sell some Pentium Magic G spot shit..., and AMD is king for me.
