Hi my BSNL line is really bad, someone using a Linux box always manages to cripple my network i think using some kind of DHCP overflow or something. I have been powerless to stop it so far used all the free firewall's that i could get my hands on. The sad part is that even my wireless connected laptop is not spared it gets booted off the Internet every once in a while.

I tried Norton 360 and while it seemed to work sometimes but did not other times, but it was much better than anything free, at Rs.1200 per year it seems a worthless endeavor since it taxes my cpu and hdd a lot.

My only real option is pfSense i have dealt with it earlier also for a company and it works very well. As far as i recall the pfSense also included an option to lock out access based on the other PC's OS. So i can lock out Linux and wala i should not have any problems but pfSense needs dedicated hardware.

My choices are as following:

Intel BOXD410PT D410 - Rs.3700

Intel D945GCLF N230 - Rs.3500

The N230 has better sata performance than the D410 and in performance they are similar. The question is does D410 makes more sense, i would imagine pfSense to be more compatible with old 945 than the new NM10.

Any ideas on which would be better?
