Lately, the on-board stereo jacks on my intel DX58SO moby are starting to give me irritating problems :@ Whenever i plugin my 2.1 creative speakers or headphones, the OS dosent detect the damn thing. The onboard audio is realtek. I tried reinstalling the drivers but didn't help. However the optical out is shown working perfectly in the volume control in the taskbar(i can see audio movement there while playing songs etc)
Has the audio chipset on the motherboard gone kaput? Help needed urgently..
P.S My OS is Win 7 64 Bit. I previously had encountered the same problem on Vista 64 Bit, but now its occurring more frequently.

The Audio driver has jack-sensing..?

^^ Completely remove the RealTEK drivers. See if the issue is still there with the inbuilt Win7 default sound drivers.

Completely removed realtek drivers, updated my bios too, but still the issue persists..as seen in the below screenie the analog out is not detected but only digital out is detected. Have installed updated realtek drivers. Any suggestions?

Same thing is happening with one of my friends motherboards. Nothing is getting detected.

I am sure you tried this, from the BIOS, is the onboard audio enabled. Rest I could say, get a soundcard, your onboard seems to have gone bad.

:(

Thanks for your reply man. I suspected it from the start, in the meantime i got me one of these
Convertor
It is working fine for now.
Guess i have to go for a standard PCI soundcard or RMA the board i guess..will contact my dealer.

I have installed the latest drivers from realtek (Rev 2.38) from here
Realtek
Still the problem persists. Wierd thing is except for the green jack, if i plugin the speakers/headphones in any of the other jacks, it gets detected. So the problem occurs only for that specific jack.

Are you sure you got the Win 7 version of the driver?

Win7 has embedded sound drivers, they run the RealTEK sound just as good. You do not get jack sensing though.

Your sound chip is dead, it seems. Get a OEM sound card.

Thing is my MB is still in warranty, contacted my dealer said if there's a problem he would give me a replacement. Lets see what happens.

Ronk - I already have tried older versions, its not a driver issue.

Guys this is wierd, got my pc back from the dealer, no problems with the mobo!

Installed Win XP 64 Bit and drivers, the audio is working fine

Is win 7 screwing up on me? Installed multiple driver versions on Win 7 but to no avail..though on XP audio works flawlessly.

Any idea on why this is happening ?

Ok, after many days of frustration, i finally got this to work. This thing was driving me nuts. Anyways the solution is to disable the front panel jack detection in the realtek audio manager. That's it. Now i am happy again :ohyeah:

I cannot believe how crappy the realtek drivers are.
