It appears that those rumors were true as we just were introduced to the Intel Thermal Solution RTS2011LC for Intel LGA2011 and also LGA1366/1155/1156 sockets. The retail packaging is already done and the CPU Cooler is said to be in production and Intel had numerous of these liquid coolers running in their demo systems at IDF.

They also went on to say that base design is similar to the Asetek design that Corsair used on their Hydro H70 series cooler, but that they changed the radiator, water pump and custom design a 120mm cooling fan. Intel also went on to say that the Intel Thermal Solution RTS2011LC with a single fan will perform better the Corsair H70 with its dual-fan shipping configuration!

The 120mm fan uses seven clear blades and is also lit up with blue LED lights. Intel said there is no was to turn off the lights, so you'll be glowing Intel blue with one of these CPU Coolers. Intel went on to say that these coolers will be put into the pricing system this week and will be in the channel when socket LGA2011 comes out later this year. You'll have to buy it separate from a processor and we would guess that it will retail in the $100-$125 price range. The Intel Thermal Solution RTS2011LC will also be backed by a three year warranty.

Looks nice and affordable. Tsk tsk Corsair. :P

But the SB2011 will also ship with a normal HSF right. The tin floater they bundle in..?

Then how will it be cooled..?

i guess they are assuming that everyone who buys sb2011 will have a decent cooling setup in mind as it is at the end of the day a high end setup

TBH i think they are right, i mean how many of us actually use OEM coolers with our chips ??

also

i dont think they will sell boat loads of these

for the simple fact that their will be things like the d14 which will perform better for less or things like the h100 will be be equally piced

OT

True for those who overclock, what about those that don't?

They should have provided a stock HSF with atleast the non-K processors. Not packaging an HSF with those doesn't make sense.

Anyways there's still time for it's launch and not all details are out. In the end they might end up including an HSF with the CPUs with locked multipliers atleast.

As far as i remember even AMD is planning for a liquid cooler along with its bulldozer lineup.,hopefully they too will sell the liquid cooler separate as it will be a waste for people who already have decent cooler with them as the NOctua D14....

Even I am on the path of buying a decent cooler :)
