Intel is set to cut prices for its Core 2 dual and quad-core products next week, online retailers have already taken the plunge. The chip giant also launched the Core 2 Duo E6320 and E6420, now with 4MB of L2 cache. Intel prices the new E6x20 models the same as the E6x00 models. Under the new pricing structure, Intel offers its Core 2 processors starting at $113 per unit, in 1,000 unit quantities.

Intel Core 2 Model - Core Frequency - Q2'07 Pricing - Newegg - ZipZoomFly

  • Q6600 - 2.40 GHz - $530 - $659 - $559.99
  • E6700 - 2.66 GHz - $316 - $485 - $340.90
  • E6600 - 2.40 GHz - $224 - $235 - $234

Despite the mild Q2’2007 price cuts, Intel plans to aggressively cut prices on its complete lineup in Q3’2007, with the exception of the recently launched Core 2 Extreme QX6800. Under the Q3’2007 pricing, the Core 2 Quad Q6600 falls to $266 per unit, in 1,000 unit quantities. Intel also plans to release refreshed Core 2 Duo processors with 1333 MHz front-side buses ranging from $163 to $266 per unit, in 1,000 unit quantities.

Waiting for these price cuts doesnt make much sense if u r buying a mid or high end processor!! With Barcelona coming up, thats the thing to wait for!!

Barcelona is for servers btw..
and desktop part agena FX,AFAIK comes at q4..

Yeah, I do know that... But a guy whose gonna spend close to $500-600 on a CPU can get an Opteron (Barcelona) and a nice Foxconn,TYAN or supermicro board and make a killer workstation!!

11k now its damn good but now september i guess it may fall ard more..since the quad core price goin to be so low 266$.......

so i better opt for am2(vfm machine) now instead of crying........why i bought this and than price cut happens

Too Frustrating for AMD X2 and Intel Core 2 Duo Buyers who had bought them 2-3 months back. Imagine people have got E6400 for 12 k and now E6600 is available for Rs. 11000/-

ya but i think from feb only we knew this was goin to happen.....that e6600 to b ard 12-13k...but its more sweeter news now ..at that time i was waiting for this fall so that i can buy 2nd hand for 7-8k..but now seeing the market spending so much also doesnt make sense becoz again there will b a big price cut though u have to wait....

but for ppl who buys once and forget for 2-3 years..its best time to buy...

but for ppl like me who changes stuff often a year i would still stay...stay away frm c2d market unless u have big pocket since all will run for quad core at diwali time....

lol..it jus looks like share bazar

Its not a big deal.

You always pay a premium for the best.

Ive bought the E66 for 17k earlier, and sold it for barely 13k.

But I enjoyed it to the MAX. for the 2 - 3 months I had it.

I just bought the E4300 5 days back for 7900. Big deal. Im happy coz Its reached 3.37 Ghz :p.. And even booted 3.6 Ghz :)...
