Intel plans to launch its super fast SSD X25E and this time it plans to launch a 64GB version.

The launch date is February 22nd and the drive will cost an arm and a leg, if not even all extremities. Intel wants to sell it for $790 while X25-E in 32GB will continue selling for $410.

Some European sites have jumped the gun and have already listed the drive for a ridiculous 1049 euro or more, and you can check and pre-order them here.

Bear in mind that this drive has insanely fast read speeds of 250MB/s and it can write at 170MB/s.

^^ AFAIK , seagate 7200.12 also delivered 200 mbps + speeds , the only notable advantage in SSD's is the access time which should be very low

SSD's are way to expensive ..but guys setting corei7 rigs right now it is must ...coz if they are ready to spend a bomb on config of corei7 they would be ready to get these...for that extra bit of performace..

SSD's make perfect sense as OS drives. But at these prices, its still insane. Like any technology, it will come down in a couple of years, and will have more takers then.
