Intel To Launch TV Service With Facial Recognition Based Intelligent Advertisements Technology
Intel is working on a new intereactive TV system which will use Facial recognition and deliver intelligent advertising to viewers .
Intel is planning to launch customized television service which will offer specific channels or even shows at lower prices , but struggling to convince media partners for the venture . To sweeten the deal , Intel is planning to offer a set top box that will use facial recognition to deliver targeted ads .
Reuters had reported that Intel is working on a set top box which will figure out the age and gender of the viewer . However ,the box won’t identify the specific person watching TV .
The technology could potentially identify if the viewer is an adult or a child, male or female, and so on, and deliver content and ads accordingly .
If Intel becomes successful in convincing the partners and consumers , it would mean more demand for its next generation chips . At the same time it is claiming that advertisers could make more money with the interactive ads technology .
People's relucance to be in front of camera while watching TV may be a hurdle to acceptance of Intel's intelligent ADs technology .
So would you like ADs to be intelligently filtered based on your gender / age ?
