Hi all

Have any of you been able to configure your Linux distros to work with the Intel X4500 integrated graphics modules, which is now commonly found in low-end laptops?

Did the googling, but not with much success.

No X4500 in older distro, Intel recently merged it in kernel but I don't know if its 2.6.29 or 2.6.30 [upcoming] , you better use newer distro to see if it works..

Try Mandriva 2009.1 RC2 that should work as it has all the drivers for graphics card !

Thanks for that DarkStar. Oh its merged to the kernel. So upgrading to the newer kernel on my Intrepid setup should do it right?

^^No ! You have to compile the new kernel inorder to get it.. I Also it won't be available anytime soon its merged in 2.6.30.x so you can only test it with upcoming distro .. Ubuntu won't support it as it has got older kernel that Mandriva and Fedora .. try giving a shot of both MDV and Fedora it might work as they can have some alternatives [Phoronix] New Intel IGP Appears In Linux 2.6.30 Kernel
