After a few solid years of serving Intel's enthusiast-grade desktop platform, the 2008-launched X58 Express 'I/O Hub' (read chipset) has received a retirement schedule which says that it has 12 more months to go until it's fully replaced by the X79 (LGA 2011).

The X58 will continue to be available for orders until April 27th, 2012, and will be shipped by Intel till October 5th (also 2012). Intel's new, X79-based LGA 2011 platform is expected to be introduced next month together with three processors.

Great I didn't go for a x58 board
every chipset have to retire after a certain point in time, even the one you are using right now, this chipset is awesome though i have it and enjoying every bit of it. :)

IMO, 2012 is a bit early for this, they should make it 2013 as the C2 stepping for SBE proccy will not be ready till 2012. There must be a time gap ~1yr for the enterprise customers to upgrade to the x79, and they need support till then.
