Laptops Interesting discovery on Macbook hardware

Yesterday, I forgot to shutdown my Macbook before leaving for office
While going out, I switched off the plugpoint

When I came back in the evening, I opened the lid and the OS sprang back in a second which is when I realized I had left it on

Thats when I noticed the remaining battery percentage

Guess how much could it be?
98%

Control Panel > Display >Screen Saver > Power

"Setting for running on battery"

Set System Hibernate after 5 mins

Result: System will hibernate after 5 mins of non-usage if running on batteries :)

98 friggin % :O

I wonder how they managed to achieve that..I guess the whole mobo shuts down except RAM

Anyway, No more shut downs or hibernates for me unless I dont intend to use the machine for days at a stretch

close lid when done

Open lid when ready to use and you have an OS that springs to life in a second :D

I don't ever shut off my PowerBook, except when I'm forced to after a big OS update :@. I've easily gone a month without ever rebooting the notebook.

I just love the way Leopard springs back to life in seconds when I open the clamshell, and this is on a 1.5GHz G4 PPC I'm talking about!

I cant say abt snappiness since havent seen a mac go to sleep, but its quite fast say a few seconds.
The battery usage in my case is almost nil, save the ram and led blinking..For me its like 1% for 2-2.5hrs..

Wat capacity battery have have you got??

@tracer-I would hav done the same but i just dont hav a predictable usage schedule..;)

EDIT:- Just checked, 3seconds and its usable..

+1 for that bro. I got old-ass 1.33 GHz G4 iBook (friggin 4 yr old), giving me mindboggling battery life still. I hardly shut it off. :)
