Dear friends,

As once again, i am here with one seemingly paradox, which i am sure some person here will be able to solve it with his/her brilliance:

Background Information:

We all know that when we talk of any Internet Service Provider (ISP) like tataindicom broadband, bsnl etc. there is invariably a DATA CAP (in say 1gb/month or say 2gb/month) of download + upload allowed. In some cases like airtel gprs or unlimited plans of reliance of sify etc..the experience is that speed is really very very pathetic.

Apparent Paradox:

What really surprises me is that my local cablewallah offers 64kbps (which he claims) but i got to get download speed of 4-5 k B ps (capita B) and its unlimited package.

I know that they have taken from VSNL (not bsnl).

Paradox: how they can offer unlimited?

i mean if some user download far more then...dont they lose?

plz clarify as to how they are able to achieve that?

(I am asking this bcs this days his attitude is unbearable and i seem to be a begger after paying rs750 per month...bcz whenever i call them for saying any problem in internet connection, they seem to care the least. I am planning to shift to bsnl data one; that is why was forced to thing about the above paradox)

WHAT REALLY PERPLEXES ME IS HOW IS HE ABLE TO OFFER UNLIMITED CONNECTION AT 64 Kbps at fixed price to everyone in our area?

even i am equally amazed...
and to add to ur confusion, i get 256 kbps for 800 bucks, da ISP is Exattnet and i hav downloaded 20GB + Uploaded 20 GB ( TOTAL 40GB) in 30 days....

the service is not tht grt and u shud know how da deal wid da local cablefellow, scream , be rude or sometimes even abuse....but at da end get ur prob solved...

and thinking of it that Exattnet buys bandwidth in bulk, so they get a heavy discount and in comparison to da ppl downloading stuff, there must be loads of ppl who hardly browse for an hour in a day and still pay 750 bucks to the ISP...so somehow da equation works out

even i have cable net...rs 900 unlimited but the guy has blocked major p2p prgs saying they eat up so much bandwdith and slow down speed for everyone....its a diff story that there are so many p2p progs and he is not able to block all of them so deperate people like me always find something which works! but most of his users are just using net for email and general browsing so u see unlimited actually looks very limited to me...and i m sure cable guy is laughing all the way to bank every month

Err... there are too many FTP servers and too much stuff over the HTTP protocol to download. Only thing is you should know the correct method of finding the resources.:ohyeah: :D  You can almost get anything and everything over HTTP & FTP without the need for P2P.:ohyeah:

ya it seems to exactly work on the principle of insurance...where everyone pays premium out of which only few who actually suffers loss are paid out of premium and rest is profit...

i wonder why poeple use p2p programs...heard a lot...but never used it...can anyone say me why they use p2p or what they get exactly there which they cannot find from normal websites...i mean say somethinng considering the fact that i am totally alien to p2p...??????????????????????????/

what is an ftp server and http protocol download...??????????

in case u r referring to normal downloads from websites which we visit and download (say a program from download.com) u seem to know some unique way to find resources...i always use google...do u use anything else or
would u like to share some of ur wisdom buddy?????????

Oh yeah, HTTP downloads are normal ones wherein you just download normally or using a d/l manager from websites.

FTP is like remote computer access. You just browse the content of the shared folder just like you do over a LAN and copy / d/l files from the FTP server.
Google is a pretty nifty tool. Just use it the right way.;)

Me too using it.

Also, I'm not allowed to share the "wisdom" you are talking about.:ohyeah:

:)

again i am lucky as i am also using it...

"Also, I'm not allowed to share the "wisdom" you are talking about."

never mind buddy...i respect ur knowledge anyways...thanks

"this is no paradox, just simply a business secret"

???????????
