Internet disconnection problem

I have a Siemens SL2_141 modem and a BSNL broadband connection. My modem is configured in PPPoE mode(the BSNL account username and password are stored in the modem.) So after I turn on my modem and the DSL light stabilises, I can surf. I do not have to dial anything.

From yesterday, 5 mins after I turn on the modem, the internet connection stops working. Whatever website I want to access, does not open. Also if I enter 192.168.1.1, I am unable to access it. All my downloads are stopped also.
Only after I switch off and turn on my modem am I able to access internet again. The 192.168.1.1 page also opens now. But after 5 mins, the same thing happens again.

The modem is only 7-8 months old.

Is it a problem with my modem or with my LAN card or phone line????

are you having crackling sounds on your phone line,if you do have then its time to call your isp,and get it fixed..same happenend to me,this is how it got fixed.

if thats not the problem,try with your friend's modem and check

The crackling sound is not very severe.
There were more crackling sounds some 3 months ago. But during that time, the DSL light would blink a lot. But now, the DSL light stays constant.
So it is not losing link but is not allowing me to surf or download.

I do not have any friends nearby who have the same connection. :(

Try changing the splitter, or check weather the line disconnects when phone rings, if so you have to check your telephone line and splitter.
 
If you have NO PROBLEM with this Router/Modem before than there must be problem with BSNL server, I have same issue with MTNL line after all suggestions from Dlink (change the modem etc.etc) MTNL make there server stable & all OK.

Sarkari company (BSNL/MTNL) main aisa hota hai... kabhi.. kabhi Nahin bhi hota hai.... wait & watch
