Internet sharing between Window and Linux.

One of my frend is owning a cyber cafe.

I m thinking of installing xbuntu 10.4 on one of the machine considering low end computers(Pentium 3).If things go well i might replace other machines with linux too.
But i m not sure if i can able to surf internet on it.
As his router is broken and he is currently using windows internet sharing to share internet connection.
Current setup:
One window machine acting as server and serving other Six windows machines (Client) using windows XP inbuilt internet sharing.

Expected Setup:

I dont want to replace server with xbuntu but a client.
Correct me if i m wrong.
I think i will have to install ccproxy on the server and need to make changes in respected client's browser including xubuntu client.

Is there any other way of doing the same?

Internet can be shared from Linux systems. Squid proxy is a good example. You can also use IPCop, pfSense, etc for the same.

check howtoforge.com and you may find some guides.

Internet sharing in XP enables DHCP server in the machine from which internet is shared. So first replace those six client machines with linux and configure them to accept IP from DHCP (which is default most of the times ... so internet should work after installation itself)

Later as Prole73 suggested, u can switch to linux server and setup proxy

I dont want to convert server into linux machine so that option is not suitable here.
The part in bold fonts in totally optional ... install linux on client machines and set them to dhcp if not so and internet should work

Here is what i did and it worked for our setup.

I didnt do any modification to server which i have setup as internet server (Using Internet sharing wizard in window xp).

I have installed linux (xubuntu 10.4 ) On one of client machine.

To my surprise when i open the firefox and entered google it worked......:);).

Later when i checked the proxy setting in browser it was automatically selected as "use system proxy setting".
