Guys ,
I'm about to buy AC for my room. Does this inverter AC operate even during power cuts without an inverter (that runs the home? ) .
I'm about 2 buy a split AC. Normal usage timing is 1pm till 6pm and 2-3 hours during night + 1-2 hours from 9am till 12 pm .
Is inverter AC better than normal split AC for my usage?

Thanks in advance

@GODMODE09 no an inverter AC will not work during power cuts. Its just a technological term used to classify different AC Technologies.
As per your writeup you plan to use the AC for around 8-10 hours

Any inverter based AC will save you appx. 30% power compared to a non inverter AC. If you are looking at recovering all the money and it would save huge amounts of money you would not be happy. But it helps in gradual reduction of your electric bills and your bit in saving electricity. Say a normal AC uses 1.5 units / hour so for 8 -10 hours units consumed would be 12-15. If your per unit bill is Rs. 5 it means it costs around 60-75 per day to run a normal AC. As against that if you use inverter AC it will save you appx 30% of that which is around 18-22 per day. Now if you use the ac for 180 days thats a saving of 3200-4000 per year. But say you use it only for 3 months in a year then that would mean a saving of around 1500-2000.

So it all depends on the amount of total usage per year and the additional investment needed. Usually compared to a normal AC the inverter AC will ask for additional investment of anywhere from 10k to 20k depending on the brand you choose. Do your calculations as per above, but my suggestion would be go for an inverter AC as that would require a lower model compared to a normal AC. Say you need 2 T normal AC you will need a 1.5T inverter AC which anyway would save you more money in the long run as the inverter AC will work on variable power so say it could consume full 1.5 units per hour and once the room is cool it might even consume just .5 units per hour. As against that a 2T regular ac will most of the time consume around 2 units per hour and 0 units when compressor switches off. This ratio is usually 75% compressor on per hour

My suggestion - I have been using 1.5T Sharp Inverter AC and quite happy with the cooling and performance so do check that out.
