Title is misleading. I read and was shocked is it actually out ?

Somehow they needed change in UI as it was the same one used for half a decade. Now iPhone 4 and iPad 2 wont get iOS 8, a wild and bit logical guess.

Overall in terms of usability iOS has really evolved. It doesn't matter where it copied from.

As for looks, that depends completely on personal opinion. I personally think that it now looks far cleaner, having disposed of the older skeuomorphic design. (Turns out Scott Forstall's love for skeuomorphism was partly what got him fired).

September / October 2013. Need to wait till then.

In other news, one of the jailbreak guys pointed that they have found exploits in the iOS 7 beta 1 to jailbreak it untethered. Not sure if troll or real and also not sure if good idea to let apple know beforehand about this. There will be numerous betas before the GM version comes out and there is a very good chance that the exploit may be patched.
If i would be someone developing a jailbreak, i would just shut up and wait for the public release.

I have iOS7 installed on my work iPhone. Its a developer release. My initial impressions were -
1. Its too bright (white) - I immediately wished that it had a "dark" theme
2. Color palette would take some getting used to.
3. Settings remain unchanged (sigh) but thats not too bad I guess
4. Loved the BB ripped swipe to go back.
5. Love all the new features - it was about time they showed up

As its a developer release, notification center crashes now and then. Overall quite stable. Its a major UI overhaul and would take some getting used to. Its nice to see Apple push risky changes out in the open. I want to see how popular iOS apps react to these changes. Its going to be all good going forward.
