IP question?

I use a laptop and pc, and got a broadband connection, will ip address be the same both the devices?

Well the answer is NO as if you have DHCP enabled then the series would be from 192.168.1.100 ~ 192.168.1.254. Your laptop and Desktop will be assigned a IP between these series.

^ the IP range can be altered in the modem/router settings.

I guess, you can give any IP from the Private IP range.

If I have a static IP, and I want to hos a ftp/http in my PC. How can I do that?

Confused because, now my modem have public ip, and my PC got some private from dhcp.

IP address will never be the same, how do you connect your pc and laptop to your broadband connection? I am sure using a router/ modem. Your router stores username and password and authenticates and also assigns private ip addresses to your pc and laptop. Why did the question arise in your mind?
