iPad Mini 2 with Touch ID leaks, Rumored for Oct 15th Announcement

After launching its new iPhone 5S this month, Apple is expected to announce its new iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5 soon, sometime in October. Several pictures of the alleged iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5 have leaked with the specs.

The iPad Mini 2 has leaked on Chinese website Pad Zol, showing the iPad in Gold color similar to the iPhone 5S announced recently. The image also shows front side of the second-gen iPad Mini with Touch ID fingerprint scanner.



The iPad Mini 2 is expected to launch in similar color variants as the iPhone 5S including Gold, Space Grey and Silver.

Pictures of the iPad Mini 2's casing in Space Gray color has been leaked by leakster Sonny Dickson on twitter, who has provided accurate leaks in past.



Other improvements expected in the upcoming iPad Mini 2 include new Apple A7 64 bit processor with motion co-processor.

The second-gen iPad Mini and fifth gen iPad are rumored to be announced on October 15th.

I am hoping that there is some "physical" change rather than just golden color change and possibly a slightly better processor thrown out in its belly! I am tired of these non-visible updates. Come on Apple, impress us with something like edge-to-edge curved screen design, looking more like pebble. These were infact the original ipad designs rumours that ruled the search results back in 2011s OR for that matter a paper thin screen which can be stuck anywhere (may be flexible screen - but i'll leave that out to Samsung first)

If you know apple, you know they will milk a product as much as possible and then only a new design will come. So do not expect that. Also if some manufacturer will come with some fundoo tech in their tabs, never expect apple to adopt them immediately. They will give importance to better implementation of that tech in the best way and only then it will come in their devices.
NFC is used i know and many devices have it, except apple devices and it is still not very much mainstream but when Apple will start putting NFC in their phones and devices, you can expect the NFC market and accessories to pick up like anything.
Similarly do not expect an iWatch unless Apple thinks they have perfected the design and battery and all and will not out a rectangle block just for the sake of doing it first.

I would love it if they keep the same design but reduce the weight further.
Battery life should be kept same if not better.
The touch id would be a nice addition. All in all it would be more of a evolutionary release.

Why would i mind the current design? It is for me both aesthetically pleasing as well as ergonomic and i love the holding space which the bezel gives me currently. A edge to edge screen for a tablet would mean that the holding hand would interfere with the gestures i intent to give to the machine. Remember the design is only one year old and it is unlikely that they would eradicate it after such a short time. They must have spent twice the time designing it.

About the retina display, I found it to be quite worthy when i saw the difference between my iPad 2 and the current generation iPad for me to warrant one in the iPad mini. The text and the images show a hell lot of difference and i personally love the color depiction of the retina display as compared to normal ones.

I sorta don't agree Rakz, currently I have seen a lot of people who have started using mostly low end smartphones but a portable tablet to compliment it. Considering the fact that the photo taking abilities of the low end smartphone wont be impressive it would be a good feat if apple provides atleast iphone 4s level quality on the ipad mini 2.

I for one would love to carry a ipad mini 2 around and forget that i even own a smartphone.

Apple really compromised on the display in ipad mini 1. Even my 7k ainol venus tab looks much sharper in contrast. This is especially evident when you are reading pdf/comics/web browsing. The pixelation is discernible. However, apple got it right with the weight/battery life thing and not to mention, the awesome quality apps. It is the best gaming device i have ever owned. I dint have this much fun while playing on my psp or wii.
