is the pricing going to be same or is it going to be cheaper...

Cause if its the same pricing then it will be a flop bigtime.....:P

Well, BSNL look like it might be the first provider to offer 3G services, so lets hope they offer a better 3G iphone experience than the other 2 provioders...

But wait, whats there in iphone that they can actually offer as exclusive or premium 3G service ;)

Its Bsnl so i think price would be *little* cheaper than others.not to forget 3G service would come on BSNL first, so bsnl has a advantage here.

i have Vodafone and have to wait for long time for 3g.

But i plan to hijack my mom's BSNL connection just for 3G:lol:

no idea what rates would be like:S

Nice. Now we need all other networks to jump on the iPhone and sell it locked to their own channels...exclusive iPhones for every network!

They had to bring the iphone cause they're the first ones to introduce 3g services in India!

Wov, what a analogy. Mind shedding more light as to how they will offer "had to bring the iphone as they will offer 3G" experience. What introduction will they make, that they simply had to introduce an iPhone.

And what advantage are we talking about here? Video call ??

or Faster App Store downloads?? That must be the deal clinching 3G advantage i guess.

I also seriously have my doubts on this peice of news....Even if they plan to include it in thier product list...it will take atleast 5 to 6 months before they can officially launch it in the market under their brand name........:D

Is it just me or is there a general reluctance to spend over 20-25k on cellphones? The last time I spent over 20k was when N73 launched and since then I promised myself I am not spending over 15-20k unless something exceptional turns up. With that perspective 31-36k sounds ridiculous and unrealistic to me not just for iPhone but for any phone.

I really don't see iPhone doing anything special in India untill the 8GB is available for 20k or less. They can probably get away with 25k for the 16GB but the 8GB model has to be 18-20k max.

Since there is some sort of 'cartel' operating its unlikely BSNL will be able to price it less than Airtel/Vodaphone. The problem is Apple HQ is probably not too focussed on markets like India and the local marketing folks are probably too full of themselves, overestimate the Apple brand value, playing safe as usual or all three. Let's hope Android is more reasonably priced but something tells me I am going to be disappointed.

What has Introduction of 3G to do with the iPhone? There are numerous handsets available in India that have better 3G capabilities than iPhone.

I dont think that BSNL brining iPhone has anything to do with it introducing 3G capabilities.

You know.. to kick start their 3G campaign and certainly iPhone is an award-winning device... So why not an iPhone? To be in the crowd and provide 3g earlier than your competitors is a marketing strategy too!

my dad also had got the n73 when it was just launched for 26k. i remember the very next week there was a price drop and few weeks later nokia also introduced the n73me. i also feel now its nonsensical to buy a phone above 20-25k no matter what it has.

bsnl will be launching iphone 3g after some time if they do at all, by then which there may be a (slight) price drop by other operators. but i really dont think their price will be much different than vodafone/airtel.

This does not look credible. I doubt the kind of customers who would go for an iphone would get a bsnl connection with all its attendant hassles. They are playing in the lower income market and Apple is in the premium end of the market.

one thing is for sure...
Preity Zinta would feature in the iPhone ads too and would say some cr@p lines like "kya! aapke paas high speed 3G internet wala iPhone nahi hai?!! main yeh shaadi nahi kar sakti":ohyeah:
