If the OS is 3.1.2 and Baseband 5.11.07 then only it can be unlocked.If the OS is 3.1.3 then it cannot be unlocked.Then Its an expensive IPOD TOUCH only.

hmm thx for the info, i will find out. Is there a way to check OS and Baseband without opening the sealed box ? is it written anywhere...

I don't want buyer to think i'm selling opened box, it shud be brand new as it is... can we find out OS by serial number ?

No way without opening the box.Also since 3gs has not been launched in India officially so no warranty.But warranty is not the issue.Whoever buys the Iphone 3gs knows that there will be no warranty.
Only thing is that it should be unlockable.
All the hackers have skipped hacking the Os 3.1.3 lest their exploits are plugged by apple when their OS 4 is going to be released yhis march.Till then keep your fingers crossed.
SEE DUDE THERE IS NO JAILBREAK AND UNLOCK FOR 3.1.3 AND It MAY NEVER BE according to GEOHOT MAKER OF BLACKRAIN.So dont fall to prey to the many fictitious hackers online or offline.
This is just to help you.Wait till March.
Just one thing more.please open the box,this will still be counted as box pack as you have to open it for preliminary examination.

check the serial number at the back of the box. the 4th and the 5th digit give the week. This one definitely wouldnt have the new one if it was purchased in mid-jan.

BUT there is another big big problem with locked phones. With the newer bootrom you have to jailbreak everytime you need to restart the phone or if it switches off which is a PITA as you need to connect to a PC to do the needful. Thats why its called a 'tethered jailbreak'.

ygpm bro...

i've unlocked two 3gs myself, one had to be tethered other had to be normal and was working with rebooting too.

I dont think anyone would mind tethered jailbreak too.. as one doesn't restart iPhone a lot..
 
well the issue which ragin_ice mention is 100% correct thats why every seller selling on ebay also confirms that it will be locked once switched off and needs to be done with blackra1n again everytime you switch off. this is issue is with all new 3gs
 
yup guys its confirmed..

this has teethered jailbreak feature only..atleast it can be unlocked..

lookin for fast sale ... no lowballing..
