iPhone 4S back glass shattered when i was tapping it with my new Xperia P :(

I just bought a Xperia P yesterday after making up my mind for a Xperia Sola it was a decision that i am now happy with more on that later.

So then after the buy me and two friends went to the Pub to celebrate my purchase and while comparing my Xperia P to his iPhone 4S i was tapping it with my Xperia P now i am sorry i took off that awful Ferrari cover. The Apple CC is asking for Rs.1700 for a replacement of the back glass.

This is the reality of it all iPhone is a fragile thing at least the back and i was thinking its gorilla glass ohh how wrong was i :(
 
In Shimla, HP will call them up and ask about their services but i think my friend will not agree and make me pay the full amount for the dam thing.
 
Today gave the phone for fixing, CC charged a total of Rs.1700 for the back glass. I could have done something productive with that money :( oh well never gonna touch his or any iPhone again...
 
Wow, didn't know the thing was so expensive. It sure is expensive no matter how you look at it.

One a side note, you should be glad you didn't tap it with Nokia 1110 :D
 
iPhone's aren't supposed to be treated like that. If they get no love, their hearts break!

On the bright side, I remember some time back my brother paid 4k for the same thing, get it done quickly at the price they have quoted.

Apple officially does not do repairs for their iPhones but only replacements. The quote you got does not seem to be from a Apple CC but some 3rd party mobile repair shop claiming to be Apple CC :P . The same back cover is otherwise available for ~1000 bucks or lower.


and how hard did you tap /hammer your Xperia on iPhone:O ? I had dropped my Iphone 4 like a dozen times from small heights when I had it but never did the rear glass break or crack .

It does repair when its no longer covered by warranty, the people i asked from are located in Chd near the rose garden and are authorized Apple people i got my iPod replaced for free from them a dew months back. The changing of the back glass is officially supported by Apple and not a scam as you can read here.

The quote did not include tax, labor, etc.

The amount i had to pay was Rs.2300 that is 600 more than the quote but its fine since the work was good, also got a bill from them which says the same. I was tapping it with the edge of the Xperia since the phone is made of metal that might have been a contributing factor. You must have a cover on for the iPhone 4 since without 1 its back is very fragile and i don't think a direct impact can be sustained by it.
