iphone 4s or Galaxy Nexus or S3

I'm looking to buy a phone in and around the $500 price mark (I know nexus is $350). I'll be buying a no contract version as I don't want to cough up $60+ for a stupid phone plan.

So which is the better one among these? Is there anything else that I can consider?

My requirements are pretty normal - Decent battery life, a good enough camera..anything which is better than my 2 year old HTC

I'm leaning towards Nexus as its cheap and GOOOOGLE but its already a year old (like the iphone 4s)..

Also can you let me know where I can shop for unlocked phones in US? Friggin contracts are a load of bullkrap!

For unlocked phones your best bet is ebay or craigslist. I am currently on CL and ebay entire day searching for a good deal on 32GB iPhone 4S. I too considered galaxy nexus new but not really going for android for now. Personally inclined towards iOS at the moment. Also used iPhone 4S can be obtained for under 350$ from what i have seen the rates on ebay. Craigslist sellers in my area seem quoting insane pricing (700$ for used iPhone 4S :O ).

If you want bigger screen then i suggest nexus and most importantly it is google flagship so you will get latest updates without relying on operators or company (S3 still not got JB...i know it is in pipeline). Btw nexus is 350$ + tax + shipping so price will touch almost 400$ so consider that.

S3 is definitely very good from what i have read (not used) and many people on TE use so they can answer better.

PS: Please answer the OP as per his requirements, dont blindly bash apple or anyone. Sincere request.
