I had purchased this iphone from superczar which has its antenna module gone bad so it had very low reception. So I ordered a replacement antenna from deal extreme;) and yesterday it arrived and then I replaced the module but still I am getting low reception:@ .I hv chked the antenna wires which connect to the module they are fine.I hv resetted the phone many times still the problem persists.I am currently on FW2.2 with baseband 3.9.

So guyz what do u think is the problem while on road I do get full bars sometimes.Has the communication board gone kaput:( .

Help me out guyzzz.

Damn, a comm board replacement is going to be terribly expensive. Why didn't you try sending it to Apple US and getting it fixed under warranty? It worked like a charm for my iPhone.

The best option for you now would be to roam around in different markets (manish market, heera panna, Alfa ? ) and get a comm board from a used (but damaged) iPhone.

Sad to hear that h@cker, that the antenna replacement didn't fix it

Having said that, wouldn't a kaput comm board mean no reception at all?

He gets anywhere between 0- 5 bars while a kaput commboard would have meant no reception at all

Did you try getting it examined by the pro repair guy you had mentioned

I had the same issue with the iPhone that I had purchased from BackToExistence on this very forum. Ofcourse, unlike you, he did not inform me about it when my brother bought it from him (and he still does not accept it). Well, bottom-line..Comm Board was damaged. Got it replaced and it works well now.

hmm,..where and how mucho was that mate?

Am guessing replacing the comm-board should fix it , but then the problem is a little more elementary than a completely blown comm-board...

Very likely, There is a loose contact somewhere in the GSM chain that is causing this

I remember long back, I had a Nokia 8210 which suddenly started exhibiting network problems.

I took it to a local repair guy who replaced the sheet antenna and then ran a hot blower over the board (which i suppose fixes issues caused by loose contacts due to dry /weak solder ) and that fixed it up

Having said that, seems like this is a common issue with iPhones then...three complaints on a single thread, eh?

What's the issue you had Tracer?

My cousin owns a mobile-shop and also handles repairs. He got it from one of his sources. I got it a little cheaper but a comm board from a used iPhone should be anywhere around 4-5k.

Mine was the dead-strip formation at the bottom of the screen. Don't you remember, I made a thread on it also commending Apple's quick service.
