I recently bought locked phone from here.. Its on 1.1.4 firmware and using iTunes version is 8.1 .I tried to upgrade to 2.2.1 ,but getting error 23 or sometime 1601. Have tried both DFU mode as well as recovery mode,also tried on other systems.. getting same error. Tried Ziphone,iplus ,winpwn.. but couldn't unlock it

plz help me out..
 
Did you try other versions ? Its probably a long shot but try updating to 2.2 (or 2.0) first!
 
k bro...had similar kind of issue on one of my friend's machine with his iphone we just had the itunes reinstalled to the latest version as per apple KB worked out...But do u want to update ur handset to 2.2.1 with baseband 2.30 which means u wont be able to use Yellowsn0w
 
I tried to restore it to stock firmware and also Tried 2.0 & 2.2.1 ..got same error.
Re-installed OS if there was any usb compactibility issues. Dint work...

When using winPwn/quickpwn i get "Spamming AT, waiting for response '
Is that a sight of bricked Iphone forever????:(
 
FYI - I was able to fix this issue by deleting the backups on my laptop and restoring w/o an existing backup. The problem was one of the backups was corrupted. You can find the backups under the Preferences -> Devices tab in iTunes.

Try this, if it doesn't work, bad news then since it seems the phone is bricked.

Also try re-installing the iTunes, try using an older version. It might work out. Usually its very difficult to brick an iPhone

The chances of bricking an iPhone are not too high! It should work one way or the other, so dont worry and ask for help on hackint0sh forum :)
 
Finally found out actual problem.. it was "Invalid calibration data in device tree " .
Restored fone back to 1.1.4 but its still locked .. can use it as Touch only:(
No network,wifi nor bluetooth.. thinking of using Iliberty to unlock and then WinPwn it to 2.0 or so...

As phone is on some firmware, it's easy to unlock again with some 2.x.x frmware. Iliberty and winpwn are great tools to do it so..
 
You know WinPwn is a crappy software compared to the Mac one since the Mac one is made by the real Dev-Team. If your friend has a Mac, i would suggest you to try updating and unlocking ur iPhone through him.
 
I used ziphone, iLiberty and winpwn all with my iPhone. I would say iLiberty is best than winpwn, ziphone comes last (his days are no more now)...

About 'iphone-dev', all these GUI makers use same exploit developed by iPhone-dev'... They've great unity :D.. Go to iclarify, you'll get great tutorials..

Still not able to restore iphone :(
can anyone tell me how to format nvram.... Its the main culprit with my case.
Have tried working around with wifi issue ... but no gain..
BTW any1 from bangalore can help me on this .... ??
 
Solved it guys!!!!!!!!

I followed following steps..

1)set Iphone to DFU in iLiberty+

2)restored firmware to 1.1.4

3)While restoring got error 1011, which means issues with network

4)itunes detected phone.. said sim was missing

5)inserted sim and restarted iphone

6)Next, used Ziphone and clicked on unlock .... after 4 mins.. iphone restared in normal mode with sim detected..

Now everything works fine, even wifi, bluetooth .. :yahoo:
