My friend just bought a unlocked 2G Iphone. When he got the phone, the dealer had installed some apps from their PC via the Itunes software at their shop. My friend needs these softwares as he paid around 1k to get them all loaded on. Now the issue is that when he tries to load any songs or software using Itunes on his PC, it gives him a message "the existing data will be overwritten by the current data". He doesn't want that to happen & wants to know is there any way to load any software or songs without having to erase the existing data?

I am complete :noob: when it comes to Iphone. So any existing user please help me out. :)

i've got an iPod touch.. so I think the apps funda will be the same. When I tried to install new apps on another comp, it asked me the same. When I said yes, it asked me whether I wanted to back up the old apps. So the old apps were present along with the new ones..

He can go ahead and sync. The existing apps will not be erased. At any rate, if he used his own credit card to purchase the apps, he can always download them again for free.

Woah! That was fast. Thanks guys. Are you pretty sure nothing will happen to his existing apps? I'm pretty sure it must be those cracked ones. Wouldn't want to risk providing false info to him. :P

Is there any way to back up the existing data, just in case?

Remember to untick auto sync option and ur apps will get deleted if u install new apps as u iphone was sync with another itunes however syncing music and videos will not delete the apps
