ipod classic 120gb in Mumbai

Whats the best place to get a ipod classic 120gb(2nd generation)
in Mumbai. Anypone who know the current cost?

I got a quote of 11.5K on one that had a printed MRP of 15.4K
but No bill, so I walked away.

ita a HDD based Ipod and so I want the bill and full 1 yr warranty
 
You can check jjmehta.com to see if you are getting a good deal...can't check it myself as its blocked at work
 
afaik, you can claim warranty for grey mkt ipods. the warranty is based on the serial no. of your ipod and you dont require a bill as such. after all, that ipos has been purchased from a legit store abroad. so, if you take it to the service center, they will hook it up and check the warranty status.

+1. You can just goto the apple support site, enter serial number and confirm warranty :) Thats a good price by the way :)
 
yup when i asked the guy for the warranty if any.

he showed me the IMPORTED BY label;

with MRP around 15.5K and month of import etc

Sadly I had been to the HCL service center in Mumbai half a year ago;for my Kodak Digicam and they also service Ipods

they asked for proof of purchase :S

If i dont get a better deal than 11.5K I guess

i will buy the Designed in USA,Assembled in China Greymarket ipod

Thats just a statement. I have personally emailed apple india support and confirmed with them :P Proof of purchase not required :)

From your statement, u went for a kodak digicam, NOT an ipods. Policies differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. NOT dependent on service guys :)

I got an iPod as a gift. It had some problems last week, so I went online checked if warranty was valid. It showed it was. I went in to the Authorised Service Provider, got my iPod replaced within a week. No bill asked for.

If you really want to be sure, ask the shop guy to show you the box, note the serial number, tell the shop guy to hold it for some time, check online for warranty validity and go back and pay.

yes thats the grey market rates,without bill

And the serial number is valid for 1 year from Manufacture/Month of Import(Sep2008 on the model i saw) Not really sure

I dunno if after buying it you would need to register the serial number online

Anyway I think if the serial number is valid after an online check, it will be in warranty,

& besides fake bills can be procured.

HCL service center just takes a zerox of the bill and applies warranty based on one year from date of purchase.

They never actually verify with the shop about the bill details.Its just paperwork/zerox they have to do for Apple

Coz they replaced my 7MP kodak Digicam with a 8MP Digicam half a year ago,

after they could not fix the flash :clap:

Thankfully i dropped the cam when it was in its pouch so there were no scratches/dents,etc and it was and still is in warranty for another 4 weeks :)
