i m plannin to get the ipod 8gb nano ..the new one wid video support that is...

so if ne1 of u hav an idea... please lemme know is it value for money...wat is a resonable good enuf offer(croma is 10.9k)..n if ther are any specific issues or bugs in it....

thanks..

I personally own the 4GB version and here are my views.

soon after getting the 4GB version i realized a few things some are +ve while some are -ve points.

1)it's really one of the sleekest and smallest PMP players ive ever screen.

2) really good battery life.though apple claims 24hrs..it easily gives around 15hrs+ with only music.:hap2:

3)the screen is beautiful but too small for watching movies and stuff.

4)also 4GB\8GB of memory is not good enough if you have a large music collection and incase you are planning to add music videos\moves at high quality then just forget it..you will surely run out of space sooner or later.

(atleast i did:( )

5)its not totally value for money keeping in mind the storage:price ratio. infact the 80GB 5th gen classic ipod looks more value for money and costs just a tad more than the 8gb nano.

*80GB has spinning HDD while nano has flash memory*

incase you are looking for a small, only music pmp which you are going to carry along or use while jogging(superb for this purpose) etc. then nano it is..

but if you want something with more storage, bit bigger screen and dont mind something that is little more heave and bigger in size than go for the 80GB classic.

you can also look at the 16\32 GB ipod touch ..or other PMP from creative etc. but i personally like\used to the nano's interface ..specially coverflow is awesome and pretty useful.:P

by the way the prices youve mentioned are official prices..look around in the grey market or indiaplaza \sifymall and you will find it very cheap.;)

dont worry about warranty etc., of grey pieces cause apple honors worldwide warranty and you can claim warranty even for grey pieces.

(ive tried once)

here are the grey\online prices to make your decision simpler.

Nano 3g

4gb- 6400 8GB-7900-8000

ipod classic 80gb-10,000-11,000

PS: i am no apple fanboy but feel ipods are really one of the most innovative and easy to use PMP ive ever seen..

though they(specially nano) are not totally value for money..the SQ is quiet good..(not as good as high-end pmp's like archos\cowon's etc)

ive heard about creative pmp being really good ,specially the new one's ..so you may also wait for suggestions regarding them.

phew !! that was all experience \personal views regarding ipod. hope ti helps.

Shuffle is best IMO. Dp you really get time to listen to more than 200 songs per day? DO you really enjoy watching movie clips on a small little screen?

I get >20hrs on my 4Gb nano (3G). I mostly listen to spoken word (podcasts and audio books-which might explain the battery life which might be due to the lower bitrates)

The shuffle is a good sounding player but the lack of a screen makes it irritating. And not everyone loves adding/removing songs from the player each time he/she wants to listen to music.

The Nano is plain overpriced IMHO. I mean you can get good sounding players with a expandable slot to offset the Nanos memory advantage.

I have the iPod nano 4GB. It's got a UI to die for, and it plays music well enough.

As for video, I use Videora Ipod Converter to convert whatever format I have to an iPod compatible 320x240 form. I've even watched whole movies on it... turned out to be much better than I thought it could be. Crisp images with smooth framerates and superb sound.

You should note that the 80GB classic is available for not much more. Decide which you prefer. Bigger with tons more storage or tiny with 'adequate-for-most-people' storage. :)

i wud b amazed if u got an NANO 2 watch video !!!

cause its so tiny !!!!!!! ive used it bro ... after a while u will never even look @ its screen

use the latest technology get an ipod touch !

Very compact, great battery, great sound.

Screen too small for vids, if looking primarily for a vid player - look elsewhere. Touch has a bigger screen, but not the best for vids. Once again SQ great, slightly better (5%) than the nano - more detailed top end.

Spend once and get the Cowon A2 30GB. Should be around 300$. This is if you want only video.

IPod Classic 80 GB for a mix of music and videos.

IPod Nano 8G if music is your primary concern.

Cowon D2 is a superb alternative to the Nano, much better VFM.

thanks all...

well since size is my primary concern and i m not much of a movie buff ...

i m goin for 8gb since a little more space doesnt hurt...

thanks all especially Fah33m....
