I have an iPod Touch 2G which is on 3.1.3 (upgraded officially from the iTunes by shelling out $10 :ashamed: ). I JB'ed it last year with Cydia and I am installing apps via Installous OTA via WiFi.
Since yesterday, it was showing a "Connect to iTunes" message on the screen. From what I have read, this message is shown when the device goes into recovery mode. However, when I simply connected the device to the computer, the screen disappeared and now it is working fine.
Now, hoping it doesn't throw similar errors at me, I want to upgrade it to version 4. It was showing me that I can update via iTunes, but I think that would spoil the JB and the data on the device, apps etc.
My queries -
1. How do I upgrade? Any links to the videos or tutorials?
2. Can I install apps via the computer on the iTouch or Installous over WiFi is the only way?
I have really never bothered with this since it always stays with my sis/mom. Would really appreciate some help
