iPod Touch Got Stolen

My iPod Touch, a 1st Generation 16gb one got flicked off my bag in office today, have escalated to the concerned authorities within the office.

Man it hurts so much, Its like an iron rod went through your heart... :@ , I hadnt even jail broken it fearing I would ruin it. :(

Would like to know that apart from sulking and cursing that son of a w***e, is there any way I could report this to apple and thus the ipod could not be able to be used again.

dammm!.....do u have CCTV's at work ? It would be easy to trace that way from the security team.....

abt the locking of the ipod thing , that aint possible.....:no: sorry to know abt the loss mate , sincerly hope u get it back!
 
yeah, iPod Touch doesn't have IMEI number or anything other to track.. So if there's way to get it back, only CCTV in office..

Tough luck mate.. I hope you'll get it back or NEW one :)
 
All us IT guyz sit in a separate building, apparently there are no CCTV's in there. The main building has them but we dont. :(
 
You can get serial number of Your iPod Touch by going in

iTunes >> Help >> Run Diagnostic >> iPod Diagnostic >> Look for the “last connected iPod serial number”.

actually, the iPod touch can be traced by local authorities....

The iPod touch comes with unique IP address, and since iPod touch can recieve wi-fi signals, every time when the user connects to any wi-fi network, the serial number for the iPod touch, along with its own IP address is sent into the cloud....

Therefore, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO GIVE THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES THE SERIAL NUMBER FOR THE iPod touch...

THIS WAY, THEY CAN START TRACKING THE DEVICE RIGHT AWAY.....

PS: for me, my iPod touch is connected to an Exchange Server, so if it's stolen, I remote wipe and lock the iPod touch so it is COMPLETELY USELESS, AND once it's locked, it cannot be re-formatted in any way....

Mac address I guess, they have a MAC address from what i remember when going to the settings app. Hope something good turns up on monday being a weekend nothing much can be done.

Already changed all the passwords for the services that can be accessed when connected to a WIFI network. (iTunes Store, gmail)

I dint have a passcode though, so all you iPod owners please do take note of this.
 
Whatever happened with u is indeed quite concerning..

but i strongly oppose the abusive language in ur first post.

Whatever be the case, u shdnt have used sch language.

^^ :hap5: Its a poor man's iphone, Its really good if u want amazing OS, wi-fi capabilities and of course music.

May be we should get things insured from now on, most our gadgets cost as much as a two wheeler :S I've heard people getting their 2k worth bicycles insured. Start saving abt 2k p/m and u can buy a new one is 4-5 months :)

That was actually gifted to me by my cousin, heck it burns my blood everytime I think about the touch. Never really was intrested in a hacked version of the iphone and buying one off vodafone/airtel India was a absolute rape of yourselves.

Will defo want to buy another Touch but will wait for the new one that is suppposed to come in Sep 09, will also keep an eye on the new iPhone prices in India during this time too.

Is there really any ipod insurance out there ??
 
I do not think there is anything called an iPod insurance.

Too bad man the place where the IT guys sit doesn't have any cams I mean c'mon !!! We got cams all over our building. Most of the companies have a different set of access to the place where the IT guys sit. If this is true in your case too then one of your guys might've flicked it.

On the other hand someone might've done it as a prank. Just check around..
