my frnd bot a new ipod touch 4g fw 4.1...
He want to jailbreak it..
I wnt to know shud he jailbreak it on 4.1 only or he shud upgrade to 4.2??

Isnt 4.2 JB less stable athan 4.1 or there is hardly any difference??\
whats ur opinion?

now you have to upgrade to 4.3.1 and jailbreak the device but since you are on 4.1 I'll suggest to say there use Limera1n and jailbreak. I myself use 4.1 and face no problems whatsoever. People complained some apps were not working on 4.2.1.

sorry for using sms lingo in the forums....

What will be the basic difference between 4.1 and 4.2 or 4.3 overall if we see??

^ upgrade the ipod to 4.3.1 and use the redsnow 0.9.6rc9 given in the link above by Metalspree :)

Basic difference between 4.1,4.2,4.3 ... just different versions , newer is better . 4.2 has game center for multiplayer gameplay and 4.3 has a faster browser engine .

The process is pretty safe , i updated my ipod to 4.3.1 today and jailbroke the same with redsnow :D

Sorry to bump up an old thread...Did not want to create a new thread for the similar query... :)

Can we jailbreak IOS5 on iPod Touch 3G....??

Any guide available for that...I have never jail broken an apple device before. :ashamed:

Thanks

There is a semi-untethered jailbreak wherein we can start the ipod but cant use the jailbreak features right ?? , but can we use the apps installed using installous if its synced with itunes.

Ok thanks a lot for your responses...

Can I get a link to a simple guide?

And is it easy...I mean is it risky...Is there a chance of the iPod getting bricked??

Semi untethered means you can reboot successfully and installous apps will work after reboot. Only you wont be able to use jailbreak apps like sbsettings until you boot tethered with computer. Was I right?
