Guys,

Sorry Mods, I dont know where to post query regarding IPTV. Found Broadband as suitable section.

I am designing a system in which CCTV, Internal Communication, Main Broadcast, Internet,Sound Recreation Equipment, IPTV, IPPBX will all run on Single Ethernet Backbone. My system design is almost ready, except IPTV.

There are 5 locations in a Ship/Submarine where Display(LCD's) are going to be placed for entertainment purpose. The requirement from navy says that each of those locations should be capable of watching channel of their choice (each of them viewing different channels at one time)

I am aware that IPTV connection is given through broadband net services, means one cable from SP with RJ45 connector is plugged in the Settop box and from that settop box its fed to our Display. But this gives only one connection AFAIK.

But in my system, I want mutiple subscription on single connection. I dont want any kind of Splitter, as it will broadcast the same channel on all 5 locations. I want all locations to be able to view any channel of their choice considering all 5 locations are using the connections simultaneously.

So do we get multiple subscriptions on single connection from service providers??? if thats possible then I can use a settop box on each of 5 locations.... Do we have any equipment that can distribute single connection to multiple (Dont want a splitter).......

saw this on google a while back: Live TV and Radio over the LAN | Exterity - Building IPTV - TV & Video Over Your LAN. MPEG Encoders, TV Gateways, IPTV Receivers and Video on-Demand
Live TV and Radio Over the LAN

AvediaStream TVgateway blades capture live TV and radio to make the channels available to end-users over your building, campus or metropolitan-area IP network. Typically, a digital receiver connected to a terrestrial TV aerial (DVB-T or ATSC), a satellite dish (DVB-S/S2), or cable TV connection (DVB-C) supplies the signal to the TVgateway, which captures an entire multiplex of SD and HD broadcasted channels. It then streams these, simultaneously, as individual MPEG channels on the network.

As part of an Exterity Building IPTV solution, AvediaStream TVgateways deliver four primary benefits:

Easily add and distribute multiple channels to hundreds or thousands of users by managing TV as a network service; adding display devices does not degrade picture quality
More granular control over channel access than traditional coaxial systems: by user or group
Better return on network investment: highly-efficient use of network bandwidth via standard multicast technology
Reduce demand for internet bandwidth; channels are multicast from an internal source, rather than delivered as multiple high-bandwidth streams through the internet gateway

send these guys a mail with your query, maybe they have a product that will help you.

Just like homes with multiple TVs, you'll need to ask for additional Settop Boxes. The DTH providers provide additional Boxes at a discounted price. I think you'll be able to get the same from IPTV.
