Those who are new to IRC i strongly suggest you use xChat if you dont plan to use any of the other features of irc clients.

Its much easier way to start.

As far as mirc is concerned there are plenty of guides on the net.

IRC isn't going to make sense if people join the channel for 2minutes and leave if no one is around. Five others will join and follow suit in the next 1/2hr thinking the same thing. Whats the problem with keeping a tiny program sitting in your system that takes maybe 50-100KB of data in a day. Only proper way is to get a sticky thread with proper details on how to connect to the server and get people to give it a shot and stay in the channe! It takes 2mins to setup. I will create the thread, just hope the mods will make it a sticky if anyone's serious about this.

  • Install mIRC
  • Open mIRC
  • Click on Tools > Options
  • Enter your full name, nickname and email address
  • Under Connect > Servers, select QuakeNet: Random server
  • Click on Connect To Server
  • Once connected to QuakeNet, type /join #chatenclave

/guide :P
