Well as far as I know fedex needs actual price declaration. If seller can do 80$ that's fine but I am not sure if custom is so dumb to take it for 80$ item

Praying is all I have started now. Processing time is 5 days. Delivery is 3-8 days. I want to know is there a way to declare less to fedex. Also I saw in another forum that there are 3 types
1. FEDEX Priority
2. FEDEX regular
3. FEDEX IE
Should I ask him which one he is using?

Just ask him to ship it "As a gift" because your country's customs are too much. Most of the sellers will agree to mark the package as a "Gift". There won't be any customs if it is a gift. I've saved 100s of $ of customs that way.

Fedex will always declare the items to customs, and there's a good chance they will inspect it.

I had ordered a 25$ pair of earphones from mp4nation which were shipped through Fedex. The package was marked as 5$ and a gift. But still I had to pay Rs. 500 as duty on it.

2k and below electronics are custom duty free. Even then, if there is a suspicion of undervaluation, they will check and put a value of their opinion and charge duty as per that. You then need to fight it with evidence of actual price paid - cc bills/ bank transfer details/ online cart confirmation details etc. More evidence, the better. Caveat: You buy something for 10$ typically sold at 100$ in India, they are still allowed to consider duty as per ~100$ instead.

few days ago itself i got an item(samsung digital lock) from hong kong worth 110 $ worth 6900 around in ruppes passed from customs without any duty , lucky me this time

In my experience shipping through Fedex/DHL always attracts duty. The reason I think is they have a timeline to follow, so they will do whatever is needed to get faster clearance through Customs. Also, when they pay Customs and clear the item on your behalf they used to charge 300-400 Rs as handling charges 2-3 years back which is their income.
So................

My lock came via ups or something like that it was expedite shipping but I am not sure why it didn't attract ant duty, though there was a chit saying "cd 1818/=" and I thought it meant cash demand of 1818 but post man didn't ask anything :D

Not about timeline, but they have dedicated customs clearance team and customs officials who flag the packages themselves and open to check.

While due to large amount of items via post there is no time to check the small packages.

Bigger packages from aliexpress do attract a lot of Duty.

In fact I imported a car scanner (cost 300$) which was shipped by Aramex and size was of a small briefcase. The value declared was 60$ and no duty was charged. I received some samples of IC through Fedex which was totally free (even shipping was free too) and I was charged duty twice of the actual market price of the samples. Similar experience was with DHL. After that I specifically avoid these couriers if I have to save customs duty.
