guys....

am gonna buy a new rig this month..

decided on the following specs..

e8400.....biostar tpi45....corsair xms 2 4gb ram.....a 500 gb hdd...corsair..vx 450...palit hd4850...stock one.......viewsonic vx2235wm -5...edifier c3..and nzxt apollo..

i was havin a few queries regardin the mobo....

is this a stable mobo...cuz this wud be the first time am gonna be assembling a rig...i am a total noob in the flashing department...cant imagine the situation where the computer doesnt come to life after spendin 50 ks..

so wanted to know whether the bios is compatible wid all the hardware i mentioned above.....

and how much does it cost..last time checked ..was arnd 8ks....ne reduction in price???

thnx

I dont think he is going to overclock. TPi45 is specially designed for overclockers, and is of course one of the most stable mobos till date. He could as well save some money by getting the entry level P45 mobos
Just my 2 cents :P

BTE will know the best abt the Tpower's power.. :) ..

neways.. its a very good mobo.. but its useless to spend all that money if u not gonna OC it.. agreeing with anish.. get an entry level P45 if u not gonna OC.. get a MSI P45 Neo or somethin..

i am gonna be ocing it..but not so soon.....only wen i get a proper hang of it...cuz it wud be my first time...and right now the extra cooler is not fitting into my budget....

and even if i oc it..wud be moderate one...arnd 3.5 ghz suppose....

and am keep on this mobo becoz of the cf option...only board under 8ks with crossfire...so can alway add an extra card in the future...

also how much oc can i expect on the stock cooler...my cabby.wud be a 690 or nzxt apollo...

hope am making the right choice...

CM690 seems to have a great opinion about it everywhere, I don't think you'g go wrong buying it.

Would the Biostar tpi45 be better or the gigabyte p45-ud3p? Overall board and overclocking wise.

^ err.. the gigabyte p45-ud3p is around 14k, do you really think thats a viable option?

On stock cooling, you might be able to reach somewhere around 3.4-3.5.

I would personally suggest going for P45 Neo - F from MSI, it does handle moderate ocing pretty well, thus saving 2k there.

If money is not a constraint, then i would personally vouch for Biostar :)

^^ ok point taken...but i badly want the cf option too...

and how is the biostar tp45hp...its got cf too and for arnd 6 ks.....

on newegg...a larger percentage...22 % out of 31 reviews gave it below 2 stars.....

but other reviews are all praise for it too...

so ne one on our forum with this board or had the opportunity to work with it???

the msi seems nice for the price...but a guy i already cryin abt his beast goin to slumber...so me worried ...and nesides it has no cf...

Make that a CM690 and invest the money in the Asus P5Q. IINM Asus P5Qs're a notch better than the Biostar boards for the build quality and performance. Although the Biostar TP45-IP did manage 680 odd FSB with an E8600. The board does amazing FSBs but you wont need as much. Any Asus P5Q'd yield ~ FSBs w/o doubt. :)

What exactly is ur budget?

^^
nzxt apollo is for 4ks...and the 690 with transparent side panel for 4.4ks

the nzxt already has a transparent side panel..looks uber cool...has two fans...from the reviews i read..they are high quality fans..and the temps are just abt perfect...

the 690.. from what ive read needs a change of fans...again additional expenditure..

look ive finalized the c2d e8400...arnd 8.5 ks

mobo biostar tpi45..for its plug and play reliability...and CF..and oc features ...7.5- 8ks..(the p5q is for 8ks....but no CF :(...)

ram corsair xms 2.. 4 gigs...2.9ks..available locally..if i get piblacks from kmd for arnd the same price..wud go for tht

hdd 500gb.....3ks

viewsonic vx2235wm -5......10.5ks..

basic mouse keyboard ..0.7k

palit hd 4850.....8.5ks

and psu corsair vx 450...3.8ks

dvd writer...1k

and speakers...edifier c3..5 ks..

initially the budget was 45ks...

but now extended to arnd 55 ks..to accomodate all tht i mentioned..this is as far as i can go...

i will get a cooler for procy after i save up more...so for now everything wud be on stock..

now is this a good config?..for the money..

That board should be around ~8k now right? 14k is insane!

Regardless, The TPi45 is a great board, can't go wrong with it!

^^ You guys are looking only at the performance point..
and since this is your first time buying a rig.. you have to be aware of the after sales situation too.

Biostar tpi45 is an amazing board for the price.. VFM .. but the after sales is horrid.. so in case your mobo goes kaput you have to wait long.. fight and then maybe.. just maybe they might replace it...

So i suggest go in for the Asus p5Q, rashi has improved their service quality and this shouldnt be an issue..

Next go for the Pi Blacks.. they are excellent rams!

the nzxt is a good cabby.. but if you are looking for more fan space and better accessibility go in for the Cm690.. ive owned one for over a year now.. and i find it to be easily one of the best in that price range. plus later on you can get your side panel modded by kmd if you wish.. :P

The rest of your rig seems to be in order.. but if you end up saving some extra go in for the Palit Sonic Edition HD4850...

Thats my 2cents... hope everything goes alright for ya.

Cheers!

^^ok...then ill try to get the p5q...but which is the cheapest p5q with CF?

and i don think tht i can push for the sonic edition...its 11.5ks heres...almost 3 ks extra than the stock one..besides the palit stock is also great..and cooler with the new golden heatsink...

and ne biostar users can plzz shed some light abt the after sales service ..

thnx
