71-90K Is Fake GPU is a thing ?

I’m in the process of building my first gaming rig, and due to a fixed budget, I’ve decided to go for a used GPU. This PC will be primarily used for gaming and nothing else. Initially, I checked online platforms like Gameloot and Gamenation, but their prices for used GPUs were almost the same as new ones. This led me to explore alternatives like Facebook Marketplace and OLX.

On Facebook Marketplace, I came across a seller listing a RTX 3070 for ₹17,500. I checked his profile and noticed he has multiple listings for 3000-series GPUs, with prices ranging from ₹17K to ₹25K. However, none of the GPUs he’s selling come with a warranty, bill, or original box. The only assurance he provides is a 7-day testing period.

I’m a bit skeptical about these GPUs. I’m not sure if they’re counterfeit or not.

Here is what my build looks like.

Yes, fake gpu's are a thing. I remember back during nvidia 10xx series you could find very cheap 1080ti's on alibaba. It turned out they were super old geforce mx400s with the coolers swapped.
3070 for 17.5k seems like a scam. If it's too good to be true then it usually is.
Amazon has the 3070 listed at ~24-25k. You might be able to get a better price at your city's 'richie street/lamington road' equivalent. Better to spend the extra amount and get a proper warranty.

Keep these things in mind when buying off FB marketplace:

1. Stick to the two main groups - JD's tech and Zoukart
2. If not a F2F deal, ALWAYS use the admin method
3. Stick to reliable sellers - you'll quickly know who they are
4. Before purchasing, ensure that the GPU is working. If F2F, meet and check for yourself. If shipping, do it over a video call

17k for a 3070 doesn't seem unrealistic. Used prices on them have dropped. 3070Tis are now going for 20-22K, 3080s at 26- 28k, etc.

While counterfeit GPUs are possible, they are rare and don't happen much outside of marketplaces such as Kijiji, Alibaba and Temu. The bigger risk is not getting scammed with a dead GPU, hence the aforementioned guidelines.

When it comes to warranty, it'll be hit or miss. 30 series is approaching 5 years.

Avoid OLX altogether, It's a spam portal.

I am getting ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3070 AMP Holo Twin for 22K under warranty till 2026, is this a fair deal ?
Slightly on the higher side but depends on the warranty date too, which month is the warranty till? that makes alot of difference. Either ways I'd say 20K is the max for 3070 now considering warranty is till late 2026, if not then 19K would be 'fair' price for a year of warranty
