Is Hindi typing possible on android phones ?

I just purchased LG Optimus One (P500) which is based on Android.

How do I see facebook/gmail/etc status messages or mails written in Hindi - हिंदी -
Is it possible to write in Hindi as we do on laptops/desktops?
 
I upgraded my lg p500 to android gingerbread, now i can see matter in hindi.

Is it possible to write in hindi?

Currently, Android is not supporting Hindi typing. But developers are working day and night to include Hindi typing in the Android OS> however, few apps are available in Android Market for Hindi typing. You can try "Kannada-Hindi Keyboard". :)
