Is it okay to surf the net while downloading stuff using utorrent or azuerus?? I mean most of the time i download stuff..occasionally i surf the net...So my question is do i have to shut down azuerus while surfing the net ?? I am prepared to live with the reduced surfing speeds due to downloads..........

^^ I have used uTorrent, Azureus, BitComet, XP, Vista in whatever combination possible and never had to shut down the P2P s/w to brouse regular sites. For heavy duty stuff like youtube etc. though, i exit them though.

isn't everything ridiculously slow ?
well you can try reducing number of connections in your Azuerus :)

well as for me, I reduce my download speed whenever I want to surf and this makes it easier for webpages to load faster!

Try using a browser that allows you to turn of images.

Use a hosts list to block ad-sites.

This worked for me, yrs ago on a 30kbs connection and downloading at the same time, partly because i think ISP's prioritise HTTP traffic over others.

When surfing, set your torrent priorities to Low in uTorrent. That helps a lot by automatically throttling down your download speeds when surfing heavy websites.
If you're downloading at 140k and attempt to load a youtube video, uTorrent will automatically ease off 30k or so until the video has finished streaming.

saumilsingh, do you know what that bandwidth allocation actually does ???

it affects only your upload speed
Nope. It tries to maintain the maximum amount of speed to and fro each connection no matter what.
When my torrents are flying at max speeds, I can't even load Google without waiting for 20 seconds unless I lower the priority.

Also when I am downloading from bad swarms and the uTorrent graph is all erratic, setting the priority to high helps a LOT in making the graph near flat.

I am talking strictly with respect to uTorrent ofcourse.
