Is it possible to buy an unlocked CDMA phone in US

I have heard it is but cannot find where to buy one.

I want to buy a unlocked CDMA phone (Galaxy Nexus) to be used in India,

I have checked and tata indicom has same bands as verizon here.

Verizon store guys say that they don't sell unlocked phones.

Any help will be appreciated

Sprint and Verizon phones with bad ESN are available for cheap over ebay. Only thing is you have to buy them locked from there and get them unlocked over here. Actually what unlocking means is, you have to get MEID (it is the IMEI in case of CDMA devices) of your phone registered with the operator you want to use here.
There's a active thread about this MEID registration going on in the hot deals section. Please go through it.
Also head over to RimWeb forums to get more idea about the scene and to know about these devices in India. You can also get imported CDMA phones from there.
