Is it possible to buy an unlocked CDMA phone in US

I have heard it is but cannot find where to buy one.

I want to buy a unlocked CDMA phone (Galaxy Nexus) to be used in India,

I have checked and tata indicom has same bands as verizon here.

Verizon store guys say that they don't sell unlocked phones.

Any help will be appreciated

Sprint and Verizon phones with bad ESN are available for cheap over ebay. Only thing is you have to buy them locked from there and get them unlocked over here. Actually what unlocking means is, you have to get MEID (it is the IMEI in case of CDMA devices) of your phone registered with the operator you want to use here.
