CPU/Mobo is it possible to get lga 775 socket repaired ?

i just managed to screw up my mobo by bending few pins on the 775 socket while cleaning which looks beyond personal repair but the local computer shop claims that he can get it fixed from a service centre in banglore...is it really possible at any level to replace/repair such a socket ? or the shopkeeper isjust fooling around to earn sum bucks ?

Nope, he is correct... CPU socket's can be repaired or replaced... Not by local shops but service centers do repair or if beyond and repair replace them (socket)...

A better question would be - Is it worth the trouble and the huge repair sum?

Well, if that's an expensive designer board, I can understand. But when there are entry-level rock-solid Gigabyte Socket775 mobos avble from 2.5k, who'd want to spend moolah on repairing mobos, which we're not even sure if it'd work properly at the end of the day.

go to nehru place.
there u can easily find people who can repair almost anything related to computers.
repair cost can be anywhere between 300 - 1000 (depending on the damage)

and if u want ur comouter to run without problems then go with ''crazzyg33k" advice. get ur self a new gigabyte board which supports ddr2 (800mhz).

I got one of mobo which was damaged by my firiend, i.e. CPU socket pins bent replaced for Rs1000/-

i got mine repaired, go to SP road, opposite ankit computers on the 2nd floor.

i forgot the name of the shop tough.

or go to rashi peripherals off SP road..

Once i too bended some pins ( around 10-15 ) on a lga 775 mobo due to careless installing of cpu . So i took a good long needle and carefully managed to align them again properly by applying slight pressure and guess what , the board is working still now . Be carefull not to twist those pins in opposite directions , they might break . Also if you are lucky any important pins may not yet be damaged .

this is one place and the lane next to sp road is dedicated to computer repairs....shold cost u 500-800 or more depending on the damage and bargaining skils.
