Is it possible to Jailbreak and unlok iphone without a sim card?

Hey guys...

I am plannin on getting a iphone in the next 4 hrs.

Just wanted to know if its possible:

1. Jailbreak the phone without inserting a valid sim of the n/w carrier
   
2. Unlock the phone without using a sim
   

Obviously I am talking about the iphone on 4.0.1 and not on 4.1. Need quich advice as I would be leaving home in sometime.
