Is it worth getting into the Apple ecosystem?

Hey guys.

So, a couple of months ago, I was gifted an iPhone (granted it was an 8) and I kind of like the way iOS is. I've known Apple ecosystem for a very long time and how everything works seamlessly (the devices just working with each other.) For me, its a case of convenience right now (I use most Apple apps for almost everything, except like a few trashy ones.) Plus, most Apple dvices, afaik, have really good longevity (which is something I am definitely looking for.)

People who are in the ecosystem, is it worth getting into it? I'm planning to get a MacBook (M1, prolly), then an Apple Watch and so on. I'd love to know your thoughts on this.

Apologies if this isn't the right place to post this. Just wanted some insight.

Thanks and have a lovely day! :)

I would suggest you to think very hard on your requirements and only when you are absolutely sure that a MacBook or Apple Watch would be sufficient, go for it.

I have iPhone 11, AirPods and a Garmin Venu smart watch. Basically I bought AirPods for convenience compared to other headsets which generally falls off when you are listening to music during sleep.
On the Apple Watch, the maximum battery time claimed is 18 hours. That’s 0.75 days. Every day atleast twice you may need to charge it. Once in the morning for full charge and 10-20% top up in the evening/before bed for sleep tracking. It’s annoying and so I went with Garmin Venu which gives 3-4 days time in a single full charge

I got into the apple ecosystem because I got pissed off when i went to buy a samsung phone out right and unlocked and they wouldn’t sell me unlocked phone. the apple store want next door and just walked in and walked out with iphone.

anyways... if you have to choose between apple and google ecosystems the go for apple. but best would be to be ghetto using linux or unlocked and rooted android with clean rom and ssh root access.

If you like iOS then you will feel at home with MacOS. It will be even more convenient for you with the watch-iPhone-Macbook setup. Also, if you are a professional who does video editing and stuffs Mac may be the better option actually.

For people like me who just like the iPhones for hardware only and found iOS smothering and tried the get into the ecosystem with macbook it could not have been a more painful experience.

running both, i would say go for it.
macbook is great, apple tv is awesome, they are closing out homepod but its awesome!!
watch - i don't prefer square watches but that's just me!

I use both. iOS wins hands down for that seamless connectivity and productive work. Am limited to phone, mac, and iPad (work devices). AirPods, the watch is something I wouldn't invest in considering there are cheaper options.

Simple question. Do you have enough cash at hand and will you have enough cash at hand to continue in the ecosystem. I got Mac Mini in 2012 and I used it for 8 years. When the time came to upgrade, the hardware that I wanted is so much out of reach (w.r..t money) that I had to leave ecosystem. Same was the case with iPhone. I had iPhone 6 and I got it for 60k.
Two years back, when I wanted to get new iPhone, that too was way out of reach (80k something for XS). Even now, 12 costs 80k.

Today, if I buy an iPhone and if I lose it, I have to spend this much to get new one. I am not saying that this is waste of money. All I say is, if you have money to cover these sudden and unexpected hardware purchases, jump in. You will never get out.

Go for it you wont be disappointed :) also it isnt really necessary to buy sumthing latest which cost a bomb you can always go with iphone that is 1-2 generation old

m on apple ecosystem since iphone 4 < iphone 4s < iphone 5s < iphone se < iphone 6s < iphone xs

Not worth it if you don't own a Mac, if phone is going to be your one and only window to digital world then Android is much better option at lesser/better price. If you are a Creative Professional/Developer who needs UNIX environment or need to work on photo/video etc for living then yes Apple Ecosystem is worth paying extra for.

Unless you need it or can afford it - no. Android has matured to the point where Apple has had to bring features. Saying this as a iPhone user. In my case, the iPhone was a corporate gift (sorta). I would not buy something that expensive.

Might be getting the M1 - but again only if Linux support is there (there are good chances). I have zero interest in running macos nor windoze on that thing.

The main reason to get into the Apple ecosystem IMO would only be the watch. Apart from that nopes.
