Hi since my notebook's (Compaq v6608au)1 yrs warranty is expiring on march 09 i called for a warranty extension
This is the offer what i got from them:

1. 1 Yr warranty extension : 5800 rs
2. 2 yrs warranty extension: 7200 rs

Free laptop runner backpack bag pack worth 2200 Rs (i doubt if the bag is worth that much)

So is it worth going for the warranty extension
??

I donno about the bag.. If the bag was not there , I would definitely say a NO to extended warranty.

Reasons

1) Laptops are getting cheaper day by day.

2) Any lappy(read electronic goods) running 1 yr without troubles will be okay for the rest of the years, IF you are a normal user (not bashing too much on the lappy)

3)Most of them wont give extended warrenty for Battery which is the most common thing to go down.

My experience

I got an extended warranty for my Toshiba lappy(buy price: 60k) and got an extended warranty(7k :() since I had trouble with it from the start. But I dint use the extended warrenty anytime

Now the battery is gone, but it is not covered. SO I ended up paying 7k for nothing.:@

worth the money for peace of mind.. but the prices u have posted are way too steep. Anything under 4-5 k for 2 years extended (i.e total 3 years from purchase) would have been worth it

I'd agree with matthew here.

If your laptop is/has been problematic, has known potential issues (like the nV chips failing on certain Dell laptops), or you feel you're a bit clumsy with electronic equipment, only then is it worth getting a warranty extension.
