Is Kathmandu a nice place to visit in December with family?

I mean i know its famous for casinos, sluts and drugs, but are there enough family things to do there?

But I had a lot of enjoyable family time at the casinos :D
You might also enjoy driving through the mountain passes (eg: kathmandu to birgunj)

Planning to in december 26-30 by flight.

and family = mom, dad(both late 50s and university professors) and me(23).

And we are the kind of people who prefer a calm quite silence rather than hustle bustle.

was thinking of kathmandu because the flight is pretty cheap, but now having second thoughts.

I would suggest you go further in to a place like Pokhara. It's a beautiful place with lakes, great restaurants and other things around to do.

Kathmandu with family is a bad idea. Nepal has some other areas which are stunning. Explore those.

I would have if I lived in eastern part.

But I live in Punjab, which is north west of the country, and a road trip is out of the question.

So I thought I'd take a irect flight from Delhi to kathmandu.

But you guys are welcome to suggest alternative locations.

we dont have passports as of now.

And Nepal is the only country which allows entry without passport.[DOUBLEPOST=1410953564][/DOUBLEPOST]Kathmandu - average December maximum day-time temperature 18 dgrees centigrade. Average night-time minimum 2 degrees. I've found that a light fleece or sweater is normally comfortably sufficient during the day (despite being well into middle age !). It's normally dry and bright during the day.

Cause of the cold in dec, you wont be able to move much, aka you will need a good hotel. There are some really good ones @nepal. Else do reconsider your location.

yep. I know that.

Even in Amritsar the temp in nights goes to around 3-2 degrees.

/so its not cold.

Take a flight to Kathmandu and go to this place called The Last Resort around 100km outside KTM... its a very nice resort among hills and is beside a river.... Best place for relaxing and enjoying. Also if you (not your parents) are interested in adventure sports they have Bunjee Jump, Swing, Canyoning... find their website on google for details...

hahahaha for a minute i thought katmandude is back! hahaha sorry off topic, but coming back to topic! have a blast and click lots of pics :)

you do not need passports for Bhutan. Just Indian govermental id card like election id/pan card is sufficient.
