Graphic Cards Is my card underperforming?

Well as the topic says i feel like my Club 3d 9800pro is really underperforming
i only got a score of 4891 3dmarks in 2003 i mean thats pathetically low for a 9800 pro right even in aquamarks i only got a score of 26687.
4560gfx and 3218 cpu.
The other day i was playing need for speed underground 2 and i used fraps and all i got was 19 fps while racing even thought the game didnt stutter much it looked like it was running slow.
My Config :no:
Amd 1700+ 512mb septek sd ram 40gb hdd zebronics 380watts psu. gigabyte mobo. & the Club 3d 9800 pro
Before the 9800 i used to have a 9600 plain and i seriously havent notice much differnce in fps in games btw the 2 only like 5-8% increase in fps doom 3 still stutter on all high
So what do u guyz think is there something wrong with the card or is just cause of my cpu? cause u know i should atleast notice some difference btw the puny 9600 and the massive 9800pro
Ive baught the card from rockymee so i wanted to know if theres anything wrong with the card so that i can get it cleared immediately

I get 33.5K in Aquamarks with 2.4c and 9500Pro. So it seems that your card is underperforming. Just try to remove the drivers with drivercleaner and reinstall catalysts.
 
which drivers are u using? i get 2734 in 3dmark 05 with my 9800 pro on stock, using cat 5.4. download these cats if not already, also u can try the latest omegas based on cat 5.4.

and i dont get a good score in 3dmark o3 though, about 6000-6100 on stock

i ran these benchmarks when i had only 1 stick of 512 MB running in single channel.
and yes, i think ur proccy is the bottleneck here :(
 
i just changed from 5.2 to 5.4omegas still no difference :(
so u SURE that my cpu is the prblem and not the card . cause dont u think that 19fps is a bit too pathetic to get in a game like need for speed ug2 on a 9800pro
hey and 3dmarks is suppose to test the cpu and gfx card separetly right then why is that score so loww tooo????????
 
well partly its your CPU. If 1700+ is at stock speeds then you are really lacking some horsepower.
But what card you had before this? How old is your windows installation. What chipset is your mobo? Have you installed latest chipset and AGP gart drivers?
Your 3dmark05 score is not that much off for 1700+ system. I used to hit 6K easily but with much more powerful system.
Let us know exact model no of your motherboard or atleast the chipset it uses.
Have you updated your chipset drivers lately?
 
Funky has pointed out the causes for ur low score.. here lemme elaborate on that..

Yes! 1700+ at stock runs at 1.45GHz or so.. that is very low and it is seriusly bottle-necking the performance of ur card. Also, I see u have mentioned SD RAM in ur system specs, which is a SERIOUSLY old tech n that seems to be the very reason for ur card's "under-performance."

It helps when u have ur Windows XP optimized for wuick runs and when u have disabled most of the eye-candy options. Also, like funky mentioned, install all the latest drivers for ur mobo chipset if u havent done so already.

I am pretty sure Funky meant 3D Mark 03 there, but if he really meant 3D Mark 05 then he's not talking about a 9800 Pro :)

From what i gather from your post, U have a SD RAM based system and u r running 1700+ at stock speeds (as i think u cudnt OC anyway with that old a mobo/chipset). If that is indeed the case, then it is high time you upgraded you CPU/Mobo/RAM combo!
 
Well dude....I just wanted to clarify tht i have not cheated u in anyway :cool2: ....the card is fine nd also had told u tht ur cpu mite be a botleneck whn dealing, didnt I??
also, as ppl hav said above, tht looks like ur probs :P ....
Also i just checkd out futuremark ORb nd wit ur system specs ppl r getting about the same score....5k ;)

well thts the highest :P i cud find at stock...both cpu nd gfx....nd has 256mb ram mre than u but its about the same.......

The only prob is am still trying to get u the bill........havent got time to make a vist to lamington lately..... :ashamed: :huh:

@mask yeah ive tweaked xp . My mobo is Gigabyte Ga72mmh no idea about the cipset and dunt think any updates available for it. So i guess its the cpu and not the card right auh man i seriously need an upgrade cause after installin the 9800pro i still feel like im playing on my old 9600 normal :P. anyways thanks a lot guys for clearing this up amd 64 here i come :clap:

^^ if that is ur mobo, then look what i found out!

Gigabyte GA-72MMH (VIA KM133a/Socket A/FSB 200mhz)

if the FSB supported is 200MHz, then ur CPU wud be running at a speed of 11 x 100 - 1100MHz!!!! thats even lesser than stock 1700+ speeds!!!

U know instead of upgrading from 9600 Pro to a 9800 Pro, u r in a MUCH NEEDED cpu/mobo/RAM upgrade state!!

and satan, if ur on a budget or something like that, check out the combo that Ragin_ice is selling, pretty good deal IMO..

ok that was a stupid thing to say :P

Hey thanks a lot mask for your help and for making me realise that i seriously have a horrible cpu :P but i dunt understand it i can play heavy games like doom3 at 1024 very high at an average of 25-40fps and hl2 worked like a charm i was getting like 35-50fps that too on my old 9600 normal with my current config
